Amniotic Membrane Transplantation (AMT)

Amniotic Membrane Transplantation (AMT) is an advanced therapy for severe dry eye and ocular surface damage. It uses a biologic membrane placed on the eye to reduce inflammation, promote healing, and protect the cornea—especially when traditional treatments are no longer effective.

Myopia Control with Stellest Lenses

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is increasingly common, especially among children. Controlling the progression of myopia is crucial to prevent more serious vision problems in the future. Stellest lenses are a groundbreaking option in myopia management, utilizing advanced technology to help slow down the elongation of the eyeball, which is a primary cause of myopia progression.

Stellest lenses are designed with a unique dual-zone optical profile. The central zone provides clear vision for distance, while the peripheral zone employs a specific optical design that stimulates the retina, thereby influencing eye growth. This innovative approach not only enhances comfort but also supports natural visual development, making Stellest lenses a preferred choice for children and adults alike.

By incorporating Stellest lenses into your myopia management plan, you can take a proactive step towards preserving your vision. Our team of professionals is here to help you find the right solution tailored to your specific needs.

Myopia Control (Myopia Management)

Myopia (nearsightedness) is a common vision condition where children can see things clearly up close, but distant objects like the board in school or road signs appear blurry.

Why Should Parents Be Concerned?

Myopia is more than just needing glasses.

As it progresses, it can increase the risk of serious eye conditions later in life, such as:

  • Retinal detachment
  • Glaucoma
  • Cataracts

The higher the prescription, the greater the long-term risk.

What is Myopia Control?

Myopia control (or myopia management) is a proactive approach to slow down or even stop the progression of myopia in children.

Unlike regular glasses that only help your child see clearly, myopia control treatments are designed to:

  • Slow eye growth
  • Reduce worsening prescription
  • Protect long-term eye health

Early treatment is key—the sooner it starts, the better the results.

Signs Your Child May Have Myopia

Parents often notice signs once school begins. Watch for:

  • Squinting to see far away
  • Sitting too close to screens or TV
  • Complaints of blurry distance vision
  • Frequent headaches or eye strain
  • Reduced performance in school or sports

Myopia Control Treatment Options

1. Specialized Glasses (e.g., Stellest Lenses)

  • Look like regular glasses
  • Help slow myopia progression
  • Great for younger children

2. Myopia Control Contact Lenses

  • Worn during the day
  • Provide clear vision + control progression
  • Ideal for active kids

3. Overnight Lenses (Ortho-K / CRT)

  • Worn while sleeping
  • Gently reshape the eye overnight
  • No glasses needed during the day

4. Atropine Eye Drops

  • Used at night
  • Simple and effective option
  • Can slow progression significantly

Common Vision Concerns

What Is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism is one of the most common and treatable vision conditions. The issue is caused when an eye is not completely round. Those living their day-to-day life with an undiagnosed astigmatism may often experience blurred vision, along with frequent fatigue and eyestrain. Discomfort associated with the condition is easily taken care of with glasses or contact lenses.

What Is Dry Eye Syndrome?

Do you find that your eyes are frequently itchy, irritated, watery, or stinging? You likely have chronic dry eye syndrome (DES). In most cases, DES can be alleviated with the use of lubricant eye drops or artificial tears. If the problem persists, we’re happy to discuss alternative options with you.

What Is Amniotic Membrane Transplantation?

For patients whose dry eye symptoms have not responded to conventional treatments like drops or prescription medications, Amniotic Membrane Transplantation (AMT) may offer the relief they have been searching for. This advanced, in-office procedure uses donated placental tissue to act as a natural biological bandage over the surface of the eye. The membrane is rich in growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins that work to reduce corneal inflammation, support healing, and minimize scarring.

AMT is particularly effective for patients with neurotrophic keratitis, persistent corneal damage, or severe chronic dry eye that has not improved with standard care. The procedure is quick and straightforward. Numbing drops are applied, and the membrane is gently placed over the affected area. Most patients return within a week for a follow-up visit to evaluate healing progress. Patients typically notice clearer vision and a meaningful reduction in pain and discomfort within days.

Contact our team to find out if amniotic membrane therapy is the right next step for you.

What Is Presbyopia?

As we age into our 40s, we develop a greater difficulty with tasks (I.E. reading) where near vision is needed. There’s no need to worry about the development of Presbyopia — it happens to everyone! However, the problem can become a pain if you experience frequent headaches or fatigue. From bifocal and multifocal glasses/contact lenses to surgery, Eye Site Vision Care Center is dedicated to discovering a solution that’s in your best interest.

What Is Cataracts?

Cataracts is an eye disease that causes clouding in the eyeball, leading to mild to severe blurred vision. The condition is prevalent and begins to develop as we age. You can trust us to provide exceptional pre and post cataract surgery care.

What Is Diabetic Retinopathy?

Diabetic retinopathy occurs in people who have been diagnosed with type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes. If you’re living with diabetes, it’s essential to schedule frequent eye exams as diabetic retinopathy can develop without noticeable symptoms.

What Is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is the most common cause of blindness. However, the condition is preventable if it’s caught in time! Glaucoma is a complex disorder that requires careful consideration of each patient’s particular circumstances. You can trust the Eye Site Vision Care Center team to deliver the level of care you deserve.

What Is Macular Degeneration?

People aged 65 and older are at risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), which can lead to blindness in severe cases. While there is no cure, we can take steps to stop the development of blindness in its tracks.

What Is Myopia?

Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, causes distant objects to appear blurry and commonly begins developing in children as young as age 6. Because myopia makes it difficult to see things at a distance, parents often first notice symptoms after a child begins school. A drop in academic or sports performance that does not align with a child’s known abilities can be one of the earliest signs, even before the child begins to complain. Other symptoms to watch for include blurry vision, frequent headaches, excessive squinting, and watery eyes. Standard glasses and contacts correct blurry vision, but they do not slow the underlying progression of myopia, which can increase the lifetime risk of serious conditions like retinal detachment and glaucoma. Myopia management uses evidence-based treatments, including Stellest lenses, specialized contact lenses, overnight corneal reshaping therapy, and low-dose atropine eye drops, to actively slow or halt that progression during your child’s critical years of eye development.

What Are Stellest Lenses?

Stellest lenses by Essilor are the first and only FDA-authorized spectacle lenses clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children ages 6 to 12. Unlike standard glasses, Stellest lenses use a patented technology called H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target), which features over 1,000 tiny lenslets arranged in concentric rings across the lens surface. These lenslets create a signal that tells the eye to slow its growth. Clinical trials showed that children wearing Stellest lenses experienced an average of 71% less myopia progression over two years compared to those wearing single vision lenses. They look and feel like ordinary glasses, require no special handling, and most children adapt within the first week. For best results, children should wear them for a minimum of 12 hours per day. Contact us to find out if Stellest lenses are right for your child.
